I have worked as an artist-educator with students in Mercer County, NJ since 2001. I have also had the pleasure of working with preservice art educators in the college classroom and in my own art classroom. I earned my Bachelor of Arts from Rowan University in 2000 and my Master of Arts in Art Education from Boston University in 2012. In addition to studying art education, I have formally studied architecture, industrial design, printmaking, painting, ceramics, book arts, photography, and mixed media arts over the past 24 years.
I have participated in solo and group exhibitions of paintings and mixed media pieces since 2000. I have created murals in public and private spaces. I have also facilitated numerous public art projects within the halls of the middle school where I was employed from 2001-2018. The creation of collaborative public art pieces has become a driving force behind my teaching practice and something that my students look forward to each year. My love of art making was encouraged from an early age, enrolling in art lessons at the Firehouse Gallery in Bordentown, NJ. Under the guidance of the gallery’s original owner, Juanita Crosby, I began to understand the importance of color in art making. Regardless of media and subject matter, my work demonstrates a life-long interest in working with color. |
