I’ve been drawn to still life painting throughout my life. Recently, I have found creating images of a single object both challenging and fulfilling. I enjoy exploring color and shadow to create dynamic compositions, which often represent my mood at the time of the painting. When asked to participate in the first inaugural Trenton CSA I found myself pondering what the capital city means to me as I chose an object to paint. I wanted to use an object that was representative of the city and of my grandmother and her family who lived in Trenton, many of whom still reside in “The ‘Burg”. The little bird that is featured in all of my paintings belonged to my grandmother and is from the Lenox Company, originally based in Trenton.
